Growing up, we were always told “you can be whatever you want to be.” The saying is very true, we can all go to school, obtain a degree, & even be successful at a career choice. But some jobs take more than what is learned in class. They take things like: empathy, compassion, and heart. Hospice care is one of those fields, in which every person, regardless of position, holds these traits and is someone special.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to a young woman who goes above and beyond in every aspect of her job. She is not only in a leadership role but has worked endless hours on her own to ensure the best care for our patients. Jamie Perkins is a Hospice Aide Supervisor in our Bennettsville location. She is selfless and makes everyone around her feel like they are of the utmost importance. I had the opportunity to hire her as an aide a few years ago and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to do this job with. Jamie is the person everyone leans on for guidance, as she will ensure a task is complete. When she has a caseload of her own, Jamie will see that those patients are very well taken care of and tucked in nightly!
Jamie has 2 children and is happily married. She enjoys cooking and spending time with her family. Hospice is her life and quite honestly her calling. She lost both of her parents, whom were both on hospice care. She was able to learn a lot through her tough times and has poured every ounce of her heart into her job daily. She absolutely loves what she does, and it shows!
